A Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) is required for all projects one acre or larger in size, and must be developed and implemented concurrent with the commencement of construction activities. Through a complete analysis of the proposed construction site and the project’s construction schedule, Stormwater Compliance Specialists, Inc. will identifie the sources of potential sediment and other pollutants from site that may affect the quality of storm water discharges generated on the project.
We then prepare the SWPPP incorporating the most cost-effective Best Management Practices (BMPs) that will prevent, abate or minimize potential sources of construction pollutants from contacting storm water and maintain compliance with local, state and federal environmental laws.
The SWPPP should be developed after the Notice of Intent (NOI) has been filed and must be implemented prior to the start of construction activities. This document should be kept on site and made available upon request by a representative of the Regional Water Quality Board, the City, and/or the County.
The basic components of an effective SWPPP are:
- Detailed description of types of potential pollutants that exist at the site
- BMPs that will be installed and methodology used will to control potential discharges
- Site Map
- Monitoring and documentation procedures
- Training documentation
- Construction Schedule
- Copy of State Regulations
- Signature of company official responsible for project
In addition, permits, inspection records, SWPPP updates and site map updates and any other pertinent data should be compiled kept with the SWPPP throughout the duration of construction and retained for a minimum of three (3) years.
